Fremont, Alameda County
The auto plant in south Fremont has built cars for three owners. General Motors opened it in 1962, and from 1984 it ran as NUMMI, a joint venture of General Motors and Toyota. Tesla took over the site in 2010 and builds electric vehicles there today. The factory stands beside Interstate 880 in the Warm Springs district.
